The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Fairfax was chartered in 1972, as a fund raising entity and volunteer service group to the Fairfax Corps of the Salvation Army. The organization provides enriching fellowship for likeminded community service women who desire to “do the most good” by meeting human needs.

The Auxiliary assists the Corps in the annual back pack program with members filling hundreds of back packs with school supplies for local elementary schools. The group takes registrations from those in need of holiday assistance. Yearly, approximately 900 families receive food, clothing, as well as toys for their children. The Auxiliary helps with the setup, sorting and distribution of Christmas stockings and the Angel Tree program. The Adult Rehabilitation Center in Annandale holds a bimonthly birthday celebration for the programs’ clients. The Auxiliary supplies cakes for these functions.

For over 35 years The Fairfax Auxiliary has held a Fashion Show/ Luncheon in the spring of the year. The event features fashions from such stores as Bloomingdales, Macys and more. In addition to a luncheon there is a Silent Auction and a costume jewelry/bric a brac table. The affair has raised many, many thousands of dollars yearly to support the Fairfax Salvation Army’s programs, the Orphanage in Mexico and the Salvation Army’s National Disaster Relief Program.

The Auxiliary meets the third Wednesday of the month at 10:30AM, September through May at the Fairfax Corps located at 4915 Ox Road, Fairfax, VA 22030. New members are most welcome. For more information, please see our website.
