History

The InterService Club Council of the City of Fairfax was organized in December 1977 through the efforts of Lions Past International Director Charles Mowery, a member of the Fairfax Host Lions Cub, and the first President of the ISCC of Fairfax, VA.

Mowery conceived of the idea after visiting and speaking to other service organizations. The InterService Club Council was initiated with eleven organizations, including: Optimist, Kiwanis, Civitan, Jaycees, American Association of University Women, Women’s Club of Fairfax, Lions, Lioness, Salvation Army Auxiliary, and Fairfax Hospital Auxiliary.
